Oakwood ISD News

When it’s time to work, we work, and when it’s time to play, we play. But rest assured that there’s always something going on with our Panthers! Visit this page often to read the latest news.

One Act Play Group

Congratulations to the Oakwood HS one act play group. They were one of the advancing plays at district competition on Saturday, March 18 at Kemp High School. They will compete in the bi-district competition on Thursday, March 23 at Abbott High School.

Congratulations also to Saqqara Forte, honor crew recognition; Charles Malina and Devon Missildine, honorable mention all-star cast; and Railey Hardin and Dylan Rogers, all-star cast. Great job, OHS OAP! We are so proud of you.

Debate News

Congratulations to the OHS CX debate team of Dylan Rogers and Charles Malina. They won first place at district competition in January and competed at the UIL State CX debate competition at UT Austin during spring break. Although they did not advance to the finals, they won two of their four debate rounds, and we are so proud of them. This is both students' first time to compete in CX debate, and we have high hopes for them in the years to come.

Aetna Challenge Winners

One of OISD's teams won $2000 for the school in the Aetna Fitness Challenge. This is the second year in a row that a team from Oakwood has earned this award. We are so very proud of our faculty and staff for working so hard and earning money for our district. Go Panthers!

Students of the Month

Each month the Oakwood ISD Site Based Decision Making Committee selects one student from each campus that has been nominated by his/her teacher for student of the month. These students are selected based on their academic performance, citizenship, good attitude, and for being a team player. These are all qualities that we aspire for our students. We invite the students the committee selects as students of the month, along with their parents, to the monthly board of trustees meeting where the board recognized them and gives them a certificate. In addition, their picture is taken with the school superintendent, and we display that picture in their campus hallway for the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. The winners are listed below:
