Dear Parent or Guardian, Your household may be eligible to receive Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) benefits to buy food. P-EBT is for children 5-18 years old who received SNAP food benefits for the month of March 2020 and children up to 21 years old who are certified for free or reduced-price meals at school in Texas during the 2019-20 school year. Children that attend a school that offers free meals to all students (Community Eligibility Provision or Provision 2) are also eligible. The online application for P-EBT is now open. Please review the criteria to see if you need to apply to receive these benefits. The application link is provided below. Do I need to apply for P-EBT? Families that DID NOT get SNAP benefits for the month of March 2020 • Yes, you will need to apply. • Fill out an application here: yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT • The application is open until June 30, 2020. • If you do not currently get SNAP benefits and your child is approved for P-EBT, you will be mailed a P-EBT card loaded with benefits. Families that DID get SNAP benefits for the month of March 2020 • You do not need to apply for children ages 5-18. Benefits were loaded onto your existing SNAP card by May 22. • If you have children under 5 and/or between the ages of 19 and 21, you will need to fill out an application for those children. Fill out an application here: yourtexasbenefits.com/Learn/PEBT • If you get SNAP benefits and your child is approved for P-EBT, we will put funds on your current Lone Star Card. P-EBT is a one-time benefit for families issued through an EBT card (like a debit card). Families receive up to $285 per eligible child. You will have one year from the date the benefits were issued to use your P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits are non-transferrable. If you need help filling out the P-EBT application, please contact is 833-613-6220. For more information, please visit hhs.texas.gov/PEBT or call is 833-613-6220. Sincerely, Oakwood ISD

SUMMER MEALS-TO-YOU: TEXAS The program is available to households with at least one child eligible for Free and Reduced-Price Lunch during the school year. Students can be eligible as individuals. Each household can receive one box per week for each child, ages 0 to 18 (though the boxes include food items typically appropriate for children two and older), living in the household, provided he or she has neither graduated nor dropped out of school before the age of 18. (If you have multiple children living with you this summer, make sure to list an eligible student first on the enrollment form. We will serve as many students as possible this summer, but due to the limited number of meals we can provide, we may not be able to serve everyone who signs up. We will use a lottery to place each household into one of two groups. One group will receive food boxes throughout the summer, while the other group will be placed on a wait list to receive boxes should space become available. All families will have the same chance of receiving the food boxes, and if wait-listed, the same chance of coming off of the wait list. Signup can be done here-- https://mealstoyou.org/meals-to-you-texas/

Oakwood Students and Parents: In an effort to help out as many families as possible during this very difficult time, Oakwood ISD will be expanding it's meal service to include weekend breakfast and lunch as well. These items will be packaged in the Friday meal pickup / delivery starting next week. If you know of any student or family that could benefit from the meal service, please let them know that it is available. You do not have to be an Oakwood student, any students can benefit from this. Meals can be picked up in the cafeteria from 7:30am until 12:00pm Monday through Friday and we will continue with the deliveries as well. We are a family in Oakwood, and together we can get through these trying times.

Parents: Oakwood ISD would like to thank you for all your hardwork and dedication to making sure your child is receiving the best education available during our shutdown. Teachers have reported amazing stories of students working hard to complete all assignments. For this, we are grateful. For the next assignment roll out, we will be sending assignments in paper form and online. The assignment in paper form will be mailed to the address we have on file on Monday, April 6, 2020. If you have not updated your address with the school and have recently moved, please call and update that information as quickly as possible. Teachers have been working diligently to provide online lessons for students who have internet access. We will go live with our online learning on Monday, April 6, 2020. We will push out the link to our online learning before Monday. Online learning will be available for all students, even those who have requested paper packets. This is a new delivery system for Oakwood ISD and we are excited to offer it to our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us immediately. After students have completed their work, there are two ways you can return the work to the teachers. First, you can take a picture of your work with your smartphone and email it to your teacher. Second, you can bring a paper copy of your work and put it in the return box stationed outside of the cafeteria on our campus. Please make sure to place your work in the appropriate slot. There will be a slot for the Elementary and one for the High School. Make sure that your Name, Grade, and Teacher's name is on every paper you submit. These are trying times but we want to make sure that our students are receiving the best we have to offer. It is our hope and sincere prayer that every student receives all the support he or she needs to minimize the stress and anxiety our children may be feeling but in an effort to make things as normal as possible, please ensure that your students are completing the packets. If you need support, please contact your teacher by email. Students that need help with technology may request a chromebook from the school. Please email jostlund@oakwoodisd.net to let us know that you will be needing this resource and we will make sure that we have one available for you. If you need wifi access, please feel free to connect to the wifi from the parking lot at school while staying in our vehicle. All social distancing guidelines must be followed. We are currently working on the availability of a few mobile wifi hotspots, that information will be made available once we know more about the possibility of rolling out those devices.

These packets can be picked up from the cafeteria and returned on Monday, March 23, 2020. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

Oakwood ISD will shut down all baseball, tennis, golf, and track practices until at least March 23. At that time we will resume back to school and will proceed with the normal practice schedule like any other school week. We will continue to abide by the UIL's decision, and will get communication about making up the games we will miss during this time out to you as soon as we get further word and a chance to meet about scheduling. Thank you for your understanding and please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns in regards to Oakwood athletics.

There have been a few questions regarding the weather and the potential for school closings. According to the Leon County Emergency management team, "currently there is no threat for hazardous travel and there is no anticipation of there being a travel threat for the county." As always, stay tuned to the Oakwood ISD facebook page, the local weather for any school updates, and notification made through our emergency call out system for further updates.
