Coach Tommy Tritz
Dear Panther Nation,
After being gone for seven years, it is with great honor that I get to return to the community of Oakwood. This is where it all began for me as far as my coaching career. With that said, athletics serves a fundamental role in our education system by providing opportunities for students to not only excel on the field or court but grow as leaders. Student athletes at Oakwood ISD will not only represent our community in competition, but are trendsetters in the classroom.
Family is very important to me and has always served as a core foundation in my career. My wife, Jennifer, joins me at Oakwood ISD serving as the special education teacher for the district. We have two energetic boys, Matthew (8) and Landon (5). My family and I are huge Texas Tech Red Raider fans; we bleed red and black.
I am a graduate from Texas Tech University, with my first coaching job being at Oakwood ISD from 2007–2010 as an assistant coach for football and track. I also served as the head boys basketball coach. I spent the next several years in West Texas, where I coached at Wellman-Union ISD from 2013–2016 and served as the head football, basketball, golf, and track coach. Last year, I served as the athletics director, head football, and track coach at Forestburg ISD. In 2017, I received my master’s degree in education/principal certification from Sul Ross State University.
Oakwood ISD has an established tradition of excellence, and I am excited to be a part of this wonderful community once again. It is a great day to be an Oakwood panther, let us roar with Panther Pride.
