The Oakwood Independent School Board is comprised of seven members of our community who volunteer their time and talents and work diligently to bring about the best possible educational opportunities for our students. Their efforts include the construction of policies and procedures, hiring and retaining quality educators and staff, and encouraging parental involvement. Please meet these dedicated servant leaders.
Mack Botard
President

Mr. Botard has served on the OISD board since 2001. He is a graduate of Sheridan High School and the University of Texas in Austin. Mr. Botard is a retired elementary school principal and enjoys traveling, ranching, and spending time with his wife, Shelley, and son, Brent. He decided to run for the board because “I wanted to serve the community and believe OISD is a fantastic school district.”
Michael Thomason

Mr. Thomason has served on the OISD board since 2013. He is a graduate of MacArthur High School in Houston and is a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Thomason is the proud owner of Ranger Heat & Air and has been in business for the past 32 years. In addition, he writes a weekly column in the Palestine Herald Press called “Near As I Can Tell.” He and his wife Judy have four kids: Jennifer, Christina, Scott, and Steven, and six grandkids. He decided to serve on the board because “I felt the need to help guide OISD through tough times.” Mr. Thomason enjoys taking naps and going to sleep.
Corbin Pettiette

Mr. Pettiette has served on the OISD board since 2013. He is a 2006 graduate of Oakwood ISD. Corbin is married to Meagan and they have four children: Eli, Bentley, Laramie, and Korbyn. He has worked for Union Pacific Railroad and now runs is own Ag services business. Corbin enjoys hunting and spending time with family.
Dave Bellow

Mr. Bellow has served on the OISD board since 2018. He is a graduate of General H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden, Germany. Dave has served as the executive vice president of Bell-Mann Corporation for the past 44 years. In addition, he is the owner of D. Bellow Investors and Oakwood Outfitters. Mr. Bellow has three children (Jason Bellow, Michael Bellow, and Brandy Spinks) and five grandchildren. When asked why he chose to serve on the board Dave stated, “I want to see Oakwood grow and prosper and help every student at OISD have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and succeed."
Joseph Sheffield

Mr. Sheffield has served on the OISD board since 2024. He is an Oakwood ISD graduate and works at SteelFab in Oakwood. Joseph and his wife Samantha have two children, Coby and Briley. He enjoys showing animals with his kids, spending time with family, and helping people out.
Brittany Boyd

Mrs. Boyd was elected to the Board in May 2025. She is a 2008 graduate of Oakwood High School and has worked as a nurse in the health care industry. Brittany has 4 children: Wyatt, Carter, Cash, and Newt. In her free time, Brittany loves to spend time with family and show animals with her children.
Jason Milligan

Mr. Milligan was appointed to the OISD board in 2018 and is a proud Oakwood Panther graduate. He and his wife Rachel have a sixth grader named Jaslen. He decided to serve on the board “To look out for the future of our children.”
