Graduation

Oakwood Students and Parents,

I hope everyone is doing well and you are staying safe.  We certainly miss everyone!  I don't know how many times during the last few weeks that I have heard from both teachers and students regarding how much they want things to get back to normal and how much they miss school.  I know these have been challenging times educationally, and I would like to thank all of our parents for working with your children to keep up their education.  Your support and effort have not gone unnoticed and it is greatly appreciated.  It is truly the only way for the educational process to continue, especially for our youngest Panthers. Thank you parents and thank you students for your continued efforts.

Seniors, yes, we are still going to have a graduation ceremony!  You deserve it!  I know you have lost a big portion of your senior year, including prom, but we are definitely going to honor all of your hard work by having a ceremony.  We have had several discussions regarding graduation plans and we are still holding out hope that we will have some sort of in person graduation ceremony on May 22.  In the event that we cannot get together as a group, this may look different and could possibly be something where one graduate is scheduled a specific time to come and walk across the stage in their cap and gown to receive their diploma.  More than likely, there will be restrictions imposed in order to keep within social distancing guidelines, possibly limitations to only immediate family, but we are still awaiting information from both TEA and the Governor's office regarding allowable protocols for having a ceremony.  As soon as we have that additional information and clarification, we will post it on the school web page and social media.  For now, we are holding onto our May 22 graduation date with additional information on times and specifics of the ceremony to come as we receive additional guidance.  Thank you for your patience and understanding!  #PFND  #Classof2020
