Oakwood ISD has hired Paul Johnston as the new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. Coach Johnston comes to Oakwood after previously coaching in the Dallas area and has more than 20 years experience coaching at every level from six man all the way through 6A, as well as coaching at the college level. "I am so excited to be back at a small school and am looking forward to getting to know the players and the community. Oakwood has had a tradition of success and I look forward to continuing that tradition." Superintendent Russell Holden said this of Johnston, "I am excited to have Coach Johnston join our staff, he is great coach, but an even better person. He has had a lot of success and is someone that will fit right in with what we are trying to accomplish with our boys and girls athletic programs at Oakwood."
Following UIL guidance and Covid protocols, Coach Johnston and the coaching staff are planning on working with the athletes next week Monday through Wednesday 11am - 1pm.
