Panther Football got off to a great start on Thursday as we went to Union Hill for our first scrimmage. The boys played hard and competed well. There was a lot to be proud of and still a lot to improve on. We will travel to Keene on Friday for our second scrimmage before our season opener against Fruitvale on Aug. 26th. Go Panthers!!
The Lady Panthers did well today in their season opening tournament finishing the day with a 1-2 record. Come out and show your support tomorrow at 11AM, your Lady Panthers will be playing Athens at the Palestine High School Gym! We may be few but we are MIGHTY! Go Lady Panthers!
Cross Country parent information & schedule will be passed out on the first day of school to athletes who are interested! Practice will begin Tuesday morning August 16th.

Oakwood Family,
Since the first new Covid cases in our staff were reported over the weekend, the district has been carefully monitoring the situation. We now have had several additional staff members test positive since yesterday. In an effort to keep everyone safe, and out an abundance of caution, we have decided to postpone the start of school until Monday, August 15. This will allow us adequate time to make sure everyone has been tested and for those that have Covid, additional time to recover. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we feel this is the best decision to help mitigate the spread and to help prevent additional transmission to students. It should also be noted that the Meet the Teacher Night that was scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, August 9) will be rescheduled to next week on Monday from 5pm to 6pm, barring any additional Covid cases over the weekend. The 2022-2023 district calendar will be updated at the next Board meeting to reflect these changes. In the meantime, parents should use their the Parent Portal account and make sure they have registered their students online. If anyone needs help with online registration, please call your campus office (903-545-2600). Please share this information with all Oakwood ISD parents and students and please be safe.

Mr. Dave Weber is World Renowned speaker who is known for his fun, high energy and entertaining speaking style. Mr. Weber came to speak with the faculty at Oakwood ISD! It was a fun and engaging presentation and the teachers are ready for the start of the 2022-2023 school year!

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)—2022-2023
The Oakwood Independent School District announced today a change to its policy for serving meals to children served under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2022-2023 school year. Schools qualifying to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) provide breakfast and lunch to ALL children at NO charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This new approach reduces burdens for both families, school administrators, and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals.

Class schedules & information packets for grades 7th-12th can be picked up on Monday, August 8th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Schedule changes can be made at Meet the Teacher night on Tuesday, August 9th.
